I visited Buckingham Field on Thursday 17 January 2013. I’m sad to report that Lee County Mosquito Control District has retired its last “classic” DC-3 (N834M), which will be flown to a museum near Gainesville, FL (I believe the Wing of Dream Museum) in the next few days. All large acreage spraying will be performed using the two DC-3-65TP aircraft, N146RD and N198RD. N836M was donated to the Air Heritage Museum in Beaver Falls, PA and flown there on 28/29 November 2012. N839M was donated to the Florida Air Museum in Lakeland, FL and flown there on 28 January 2011. N211GB and N838M went to Dodson in trade for the two DC-3-65TP’s in November 2010. o N211GB/26133 – traded to Dodson for DC-3-65TP’s and flown to Kansas in November 2010. o N341W/13041 – stored in derelict condition at Buckingham Field o N834M/26211 – donated and to be flown to Wing of Dream Museum January 2013 o N836M/25977 – donated and flown to Air Heritage Museum on November 28/29, 2012 o N837M/12524 – stripped of engines/parts and stored at Buckingham Field in LCMCD colors o N838M/20448 – traded to Dodson for DC-3-65TP’s and flown to Kansas in November 2010. o N839M/20166 – Donated to the Florida Air Museum at Lakeland, FL and flown there on 28 January 2011 o N198RD – DC-3-65TP – in sun shelter o N146RD – DC-3-65TP – in hangar undergoing maintenance Ralph
