IFL Group Convair-580 N171FL
On landing runway 19, the nosegear apparently gave way and dug in rearwards. The Convair drifted to the left but came to rest within runway on its nose near. There were no reports about any injuries among the crewmembers. According to pictures, the left propeller was sheared off after it came into ground contact. High energy debris from the propeller blades hit the left fuselage resulting in substantial damage.
That is a major failure and unless the trunion gave way due to a mechanical reason, the guys landed hard and broke the nose gear. It doesn't just fold back like that. They broke the trunion or folded the strut just below the drag link and that's not something that's easy to do.
